FREE MASTERCLASSES UP FOR GRABS FOR REGION’S MANUFACTURERS

EAST Midlands manufacturers will have the chance to get the inside track on ways to improve their performance at a series of free workshops (DETAILS BELOW) being given by the region’s leading manufacturing advisers starting this month (OCT 06).

The Manufacturing Advisory Service in the East Midlands (MAS EM) has helped the Quality Club put together a specially designed set of six sessions geared at getting SMEs to up their game. The Service, which provides straightforward advice and practical support for SME manufacturers to help them improve their business competitiveness, has helped generate nearly £18 million of added value across around 1,700 companies since it was set up four years ago.

Tony Pritchard, centre director at MAS EM, said: “The sessions will be led by some of our highly experienced manufacturing specialists along with MAS ambassadors whose companies have all seen significant productivity improvements as a result of receiving support from MAS.

“We’ll be sharing best practice and insight on areas ranging from process improvement and ‘lean’ manufacturing techniques to advice on innovation and supply chain development.”

Peter Roberts’ company Collis Engineering received support from MAS and as an ambassador for the Service he is also helping to deliver the first session in the programme. He said: “I don’t think SMEs wanting to improve their bottom line can afford to miss an opportunity like this. It won’t cost them a penny and is a valuable way for them to take the right steps towards ensuring their long-term sustainability in what is an ever more competitive marketplace.”

The sessions are being run through East Midlands Quality Club (EMQC). Attendees can sign up for single seminars or the course of six. For more details about the programme, contact Linda Mee at EMQC on 0116 252 5926 or email her at ljm18@le.ac.uk
